You may occasionally start a checklist instance by accident or find that it's no longer required.

To ensure full traceability of all activity within your Way We Do account, activated instances cannot be deleted. Instead, you can abandon the instance, which moves it from an "active" to an "inactive" state.

Here’s how to do it.

How to Abandon a Checklist Instance

Follow these steps to move an active checklist to an abandoned state.

  1. Navigate to the Activated Checklist Instance you wish to abandon.

  2. In the top-lefthand panel, locate the "Close" button.

  3. Click the dropdown arrow next to the "Close" button.

  4. Select Abandon Checklist from the menu.

  5. A pop-up window will appear, asking you to provide a reason for abandoning the checklist.

  6. Enter a brief explanation in the reason field. This is a mandatory step to maintain a clear audit trail.

  7. Click the Abandon button to confirm.

What Happens After Abandoning an Instance?

Once you abandon the checklist, you will see two immediate changes:

  • The progress bar at the top of the instance will turn grey, providing a clear visual cue that it is no longer active.

  • When you reopen the instance, a status message at the top will display:

    • That the checklist was Abandoned.

    • Who abandoned it.

    • The date and time it was abandoned.

Note: Abandoned checklists are not deleted. They are retained in an inactive state and remain accessible for your account's records and traceability.
